My instructor Martine ('Tincho') was also wonderful. Since wind and weather is always a factor, Karla would call me every morning before my lesson to confirm that the weather would be perfect and if not for 10am, then when we could hope to commence (depending on wind conditions). When I got to PR, I was given excellent directions to the site.

I was never made to feel like I was asking dumb questions. They not only put up with my many questions, they were patient, clear and extremely helpful. I called about three times before I arrived in PR. First of all, the owners, Karla and Phil are great.

I decided to try Puerto Rico, and found the KitesurfPR website. I went back twice to finish the lesson but both trips were wasted - no wind. There was no wind and after two hours, we gave up. I tried kitesurfing in Long Beach Island, New Jersey. I have to say Goodwinds was the highlight of my trip and I can't wait to return!!! I also highly recommend stopping in the boutique at Barlovento! There is a great selection of swim suits, jewelry, cover-ups, all super cute stuff most people wouldn't find at home. The owners Phil and Karla are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, kind, and fun! Phil and Karla make sure everyone has the best experience possible, and actually care about all of their visitors. This location is amazing with something for everyone to try, but what really stands out the most is the people there. With Phil's direction I felt comfortable and was able to get up on my first, very small, wave! Goodwinds even offers yoga and fitness boot camps! I went to beach yoga and beach boot camp and loved them both! What a great setting to get your workout in! The instructor, Megan, is a fantastic yoga teacher and motivated the group through a killer beach boot camp! I am very sad now that I am back home in Chicago, and waiting in the treadmill line at the gym. My sisters and I took paddle boards out, and it was a great start to our morning this location is absolutely beautiful also great for snorkeling! On our last day we worked up the courage to try surfing with the encouragement of the owners Phil and Karla.

There are so many activities to choose from kite surfing, paddle boarding, surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, and much more. What an adventure! I visited Goodwinds several times during my week vacation.
